Burglars broke into a country home and stole a valuable painting after seeing it on a television property show.

The £1 million property in Langenhoe, near to Chelmsford in Essex is up for sale with a local estate agents and, as such, was one of the potential new homes shown to a couple on the Channel 4 show Location, Location, Location.

Despite the daughter of the home's owners being in the kitchen at the time, the thieves got in through a window and got away with a £2,000 painting of a horse, Essex Police have confirmed.

The wife of the couple stated: "It is definitely connected with it being on Location, Location, Location."

Currently, the south-east is the second-most expensive region in the UK for homebuyers, beaten only by London.

According to recent predictions from the National Housing Federation, the average cost of a home in the area could reach almost £500,000 by 2012.
