Property in Swiss ski resorts remains affordable and represents a solid investment option, overseas property experts have stated.
At present, around 45,000 British ex-pats, including around 5,500 pensioners live in Switzerland, according to recent statistics from the Department of Work and Pensions, with many attracted by the low house prices, good scenery and the country''s economic stability.
While investment in Swiss property remains lucrative overall, houses located within or around established ski resorts have "out-performed by a long way the general market" according to the advisory firm Investors in Property.
In addition, Simon Malster, a spokesman for the firm, said that there remains good potential within the Swiss ski market.
"If it [a property] is what we call one of the emerging resorts which is somewhere that is not a household name, then you find that they can buy a chalet at a very reasonable price and that is what they tend to go for," he said.
According to a recent report from the Office of National Statistics, record number of Britons are leaving the country to live overseas, with poor weather and rising prices in the UK being cited as major reasons for the high levels of emigration.
