Agent predicts growth in Ipswich market

Property in Ipswich could be poised to see a dramatic increase in popularity due to upcoming "regeneration" of the area, an estate agency chain has claimed.

Connells, which has 150 branches across England, said that forthcoming developments, such as the construction of a new university, indicated that demand for homes in the area would increase.

"There are a lot of new flats and apartments being built in the area, and there has been an influx in to the town centre," a spokesperson said, adding that now could be a good time to buy as "the supply in city centre living outstrips the demand at the moment".

However, the firm predicts that within "another couple of years" the situation will be reversed and demand for property will far outstrip what is available.

As for what kind of properties are the best choice in Ipswich, the spokesperson commented: "There is definitely a more guaranteed return on your investment with a house, rather than a flat."

In the past week, it has been announced that Chapman Taylor, the architects who designed a key component of Birmingham''s regeneration, the Bullring centre, have been approached by developers in Ipswich to build a £230 million shopping centre in the town.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18269912-ADNFCR
