Tina Jesson, a director of Homestagers.co.uk, suggested that making a home feel modern and inviting for potential buyers by focusing on its presentation is "one of the best ways of driving up the value".

"It isn''t about just painting everything magnolia and clearing a lot of clutter. Its much more than that. It''s about achieving a lifestyle in the property as it can help you achieve the maximum return or maximum sales price on the property, "she explained.

Ms Jesson suggested it is important for a seller to clearly define the function of each room and to re-decorate if decor hasn''t been changed within the last five years to prevent the house looking dated.

With experts continuing to predict that buyers are becoming more cautious about purchasing a property due to current economic conditions, making your home attractive is becoming increasingly important.

"It''s about looking at finding the right balance and just enough interest to make it more marketable," Ms Jesson added.
