Notting Hill is the most fashionable area of London to live in, new research from an estate agency has revealed.

Situated in the west of the city, Hamptons International said that Notting Hill had received a popularity boost since it was featured in the movie of the same name and had "gone from strength to strength" in the last few years, seeing prices rise by 45.41 per cent.

The north London borough of Islington came second in the cool stakes and was praised as being "chic and thriving", with the area seeing particular interest from people working in the arts and media.

Kensington rounded out the top three, with properties in the southern area of the borough having increased by 32.18 per cent in the past year.

Despite the cool cachet of these areas, property experts predict that high-end London properties will see a fall in price growth.

Earlier this month, Knight Frank said that price growth fell from 3.9 per cent in July to 2.1 per in August, suggesting that next year would also see a moderation in price increases.
