Tony Blair is interested in purchasing a country house designed by legendry architect Sir Christopher Wren, it has been reported.

The former prime minister and his wife Cherie are said to have fallen in love with Winslow Hall, a £3 million grade one listed property in Buckinghamshire which offers five acres of landscaped gardens in addition a Catholic chapel on the grounds.

A source told the Mail on Sunday that couple "love" the property, adding: "They say they are desperate to have a place in the country and they love the village of Winslow because it is only 50 miles from central London."

According to the Times, friends of the couple said that the property was just one of several the Blairs have been viewing.

The couple already own two flats in Bristol, a home in Mr Blair''s former Country Durham constituency and a house in central London.

A spokesperson for Mrs Blair would not confirm or deny the rumours that the Blairs are planning to add to their property portfolio, telling the Mail on Sunday: "They are private individuals now and what they do is their own private business."ADNFCR-1143-ID-18308274-ADNFCR
