Agent: No point in hiding ghosts

Estate agents handling the sale of a property which is rumoured to have a supernatural presence should not attempt to actively conceal the reports, it has been suggested.

Although many people do not believe in the existence of ghosts, for those that do, experts believe it can have a powerful impact on the decision on whether or not to purchase a house.

Peter Bolton King, the chief executive of the National Association of Estate Agents, told the Daily Telegraph that unlike more traditional faults, the reaction to a spook "depends on personal feelings".

"If there is documentation about a haunting there''s no point in hiding it. Although I wouldn''t put it in the particulars, I''d have a word with the potential purchaser - with the vendor''s agreement."

However, a recent poll conducted by Yorkshire Bank revealed that 54 per cent of first-time buyers would not be deterred from buying a haunted house, while 30 per cent would be tempted to view a property out of curiosity if they thought it had a supernatural resident.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18334175-ADNFCR
