Properties situated close to surfing hotspots are attracting buyers who are keen to spend time catching waves, it has been reported.
Estate agents in Wales and Cornwall say that the lure of the sea is helping boost the property markets in both regions, attracting a wide range of buyers.
Gloria Thomas, a sales negotiator for John Francis in the Welsh town of Mumbles, told the Western Mail newspaper that the area is fast becoming a "surfing goldmine", commenting: "Dedicated surfers go out all year round and its a great way to keep fit and to enjoy a lovely lifestyle."
She also noted that many older buyers are also attracted to the region so they can "hit the beach with their families".
One of Mumbles'' biggest attractions for keen surfers is the Gower Peninsula, which offers a number of beaches suitable for those wishing to take part in the sport as well as those who simply wish to enjoy the sun and stunning scenery.
Cornish agent Stuart Harding, of Stratton Creber, said that buyers aged over-50 are also heading to the south-West to take advantage of living on the coast.
"There are plenty of others who are buying somewhere to store their surfboards or for their surfing children," he added.
