Thu 6th Dec, 17:40:22 GMT
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has banned an estate agent from working in the sector after an independent adjudicator ruled that he was "unfit to carry on estate agency work", it has been announced.
According to the organisation, Kamran Khan, the founder of north-London based firm Ace Sales and Lettings, committed unspecified offences related to section three, part one A (i) of the Estate Agents Act 1979.
Under the law, the director general of fair trading must be satisfied that an agent has been convicted of "an offence involving fraud or other dishonesty or violence" before he can approve the order banning them from the profession.
Mr Khan had until November 28th to lodge an appeal before the prohibition order, which was made on October 31st, came into force.
Ray Hall, director of markets and projects at the OFT, said: "Estate agents who have convictions for dishonesty are unfit to continue working in the profession.
"The OFT has demonstrated once again that it will take the strongest possible action against them."
