Foxtons employees have been accused of posting insulting comments on the website of a regional newspaper which published a negative story about the firm.

In December, the Surrey Comet reported on the concerns of people living in Balham who felt that cars belonging to Foxtons were taking up parking spaces and making it harder for them to find somewhere to park their own vehicles.

According to the paper, 17 of the 27 comments left on the story''s web page were traced back by its IT department to the estate agency''s IP address.

The paper alleged that workers posed as residents of the borough and used the website as a platform for "delivering insults to locals".

It also claimed that some of them "dished out praise to themselves", adding that a number of posts were removed from the site by newspaper staff for being "offensive".

A spokesman for Foxtons told the publication: "If any members of our staff have responded to the article they have done so in response to what they see as unfair criticism."

Estate agents at the firm are often see driving around in distinctive Minis which can be a powerful tool to help raise awareness of the brand.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18431619-ADNFCR
