Scottish market good for landlords

The Scottish buy-to-let property market looks very attractive for investors.
That is according to the National Landlords Association (NLA), which said that there are a number of reasons why the market north of the border is more attractive than the market south of it.
One of the key factors is that the housing market in Scotland is a lot more stable than elsewhere in the UK.
In addition, strong price growth is boosting the housing market and rental yields are high.
"From a rental point of view the outlook is excellent. Yields are increasing, and rental void''s decreasing, which is good news," said NLA Scotland regional representative David Kendall.
"Generally the housing market is more stable in Scotland, there''s not a boom and bust cycle to the same extent that there is in the south-east
"There are a number [of investors] coming from outwith the country, from the south-east and from Ireland as well House prices [in these regions] have obviously gone up, and people who have equity are now looking for new markets to put their money into," he continued.
Scottish house prices increased by 13.1 per cent in the year to the final quarter of 2007, according to figures from the Bank of Scotland.
