Ideal homes revealed

A new survey has revealed what Britons consider to be their ideal home.

According to the Legal & General study, British homebuyers most want to buy a house which has country characteristics.

They would prefer to live by the sea, with 22 per cent choosing this option, but the countryside is a close second (20 per cent).

Most would prefer a village over an urban area and Cornwall, Devon, Greater London, Surrey and Yorkshire are all equally popular.

Perhaps the most striking finding is that 60 per cent of Brits still harbour hopes of landing their dream property despite the global credit crunch.

"The survey would indicate that people are still quite positive about the future housing market given the number of respondents who still wish to live in their dream home," said Gary Skelton from Legal & General.

"From the responses to their views on dream homes of the future, environmental issues and increased awareness of climate change is already influencing customer''s perspective of future home life," he continued.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18568995-ADNFCR
