With the housing market grinding to a halt and talk of an impending recession in the UK, now is a great time to invest in foreign property, it has been claimed.

At the a Place in the Sun Live show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, co-founder of the event Mark Bishop said the theme was now is a good time to invest in foreign property market.

He said that the "keenest of the keen" in pursuing property ventures abroad were at the event, suggesting there was more than just a passing interest in investing overseas.

The show offered attendees advice on buying abroad and gave them a chance to get involved in the TV show as a house-hunter.

In related news there was a 95 per cent drop in mortgage lending last month, according to figures published by the Bank of England (BoE).
