Conwy property prices tumble

Fri 5th Dec, 09:31:02 GMT

Conwy county''s property prices are in "free fall" and have plunged in value at a faster rate than anywhere else in England and Wales, according to new research.

Figures from the government''s Land Registry show that annual house prices in the region have dropped by 12.9 per cent in the past year, compared with just 2.4 per cent in Bridgend and 1.3 per cent in Gwent.

However, one estate agent told North Wales Weekly News that prices in Conwy are actually 15 to 20 per cent below values recorded a year ago.

Elaine Fletcher, of estate agent Fletcher and Poole, told the news provider: "Although these figures look bad it must be borne in mind that property prices rose faster here in the boom years than anywhere else in Wales."

In news that could affect property prices in Conwy, minister for transport Ieuan Wyn Jones set out plans to improve transport links across the region this week.
