Plymouth agents to attend Hips event

Estate agents in Plymouth have been invited to attend an event designed to discuss how home information packs (Hips) have affected the property market, it has been reported.
The controversial packs have been the focus of a harsh battle of words between those who agree with the government that the scheme offers buyers a valuable resource and opponents who believe they complicate the process of buying and selling properties.
According to ThisisPlymouth.co.uk, around 50 local estate agents are expected to gather at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel tomorrow to discuss the impact of the packs at an event organised by law firm group Fastmove.
Mike Goldsmith, the secretary of the organisation, told the publication: "Our event will give estate agents and solicitors an opportunity to discuss the latest government changes and how these are affecting the local housing market."
Fastmove, whose members aim to speed up the time it takes to put together a Hip, have previously backed the introduction of the packs.
Speaking to ThisisPlymouth.co.uk after the scheme was rolled out to cover all residential properties in December last year, Mr Goldsmith commented that the expansion would "actually benefit first-time buyers".
