Celebrity builder Tommy Walsh could lose up to £80,000 on an eco-friendly home built for his latest TV series, it has been reported.

The DIY builder has been trying to sell the Cambridgeshire property since last year for £180,000 but has decided to put it up for auction with a reserve of £100,000 as the property market grinds to a halt, according to the Cambs Times.

He told the news provider: "The whole project including decor, fitted kitchen, landscaping, etc cost over £175,000 to build,"

"So this could be your opportunity to really bag a bargain," he added.

The former star of Groundforce and Challenge Tommy was asked to build the house on a £60,000 plot of land by the Discovery Channel, the paper states.

Meanwhile the Town and Country Planning Association has urged everyone to respond to the government''s consultation on eco-towns.

The Planning Policy Statement sets out demanding standards which new eco-towns must adhere to.
