The Kent home of the former journalist and politician Lord Bill Deedes is attracting attention from buyers, it has been reported.

According to kentnews.co.uk, the picturesque property located in the village of Aldington owned by the former editor of the Daily Telegraph has proven to be a popular property among those looking to buy in the area, whose other celebrity inhabitants include television presenter Paul O''Grady and comedian Julian Clary.

Lord Deedes'' New Hayters estate has been on the market for a month and is expected to sell for £750,000, the website claimed.

"The house is under offer. We have had lots and lots of people looking around," the publication quoted a spokesman for estate agents Strutt and Parker as saying.

Lord Deedes died in August at the age of 94 and led a colourful life and was reportedly the inspiration for the war reporter in Evelyn Waugh''s famous novel Scoop.

He was also a Unicef ambassador and served in the governments of both Winston Churchill and Harold Macmillan.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18334171-ADNFCR
