Investors ''could benefit from economic climate''

Property investors could be poised to benefit from recent economic upheaval and last week''s interest rate cut, it has been suggested.

David Austin, managing director of investment consultancy Property for Life, said that the buy-to-let market is still strong, with rising employment and demand for rental properties both positive factors for investors.

"Investors who are serious about long-term investment and who already have a number of properties behind them can really benefit from the current climate," he commented.

Organisations such as the National Association of Estate Agents and Nationwide predict that house price growth will stall in 2008, offering an opportunity for buyers to avoid being rushed into purchasing a house.

Mr Austin said that people who have experience in the buy-to-let market might want to consider taking the chance to diversify their portfolio, explaining: "Seasoned investors should diversify on area, type of property and tenant thus widening their portfolio and protecting against risk."

It comes as the Building Societies Association urges those considering buy-to-let to ensure that they have "done their sums" and researched their investment before they enter the market.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18392079-ADNFCR
