The former London home of the Beatles is up for sale at a whopping £1.75 million.

The flat in Green Street, Mayfair, is the only place that all four band members actually lived together and the flat has been synonymous with them ever since.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison moved into the property in the autumn of 1963.

The Beatles were already huge and the flat was rented so that they could enjoy some privacy between gigs and television appearances.

According to estate agent Sotheby''s, the interior has changed somewhat since the 1960s but arguably one of the most famous banisters in the world remains in place.

The band members posed for a photograph while leaning on the banister and the resulting picture was used on the cover of the December 1963 edition of the Beatles Book.

"When the Beatles were there there were three smallish bedrooms and one bathroom. He [the current owner] had it remodelled into a more contemporary layout but doesn''t need it any more," Peter Bevan from Sotheby''s told the Daily Mail.

"He is certainly aware of the Beatles connection and supplied us with the 1963 Beatles Book. I wouldn''t say he was an enthusiast," he added.ADNFCR-1143-ID-18471424-ADNFCR
